The modelo 210 checklist

We will not tell you what you owe. We will tell you what you are missing.

Eleven questions, one minute. At the end you will know whether you are required to file, which documents you are missing and what is particular about your case. No figures: the amount depends on data that only comes off your IBI bill and your title deed.

What the modelo 210 will ask for from 2027

The form itself changes. Order HAC/623/2026 of 12 June amends the modelo 210, and the new form applies to every self-assessment filed from 1 January 2027 onwards, whatever tax year the income belongs to.

Two new boxes appear, “number of days” and “share quota”, for the days the property was at the taxpayer's disposal or let and for the percentage of ownership. In the “situation of the property” section there is a new “cadastral reference key”, with two values: property with a cadastral reference, and property without one. And for let or sublet property there is a new annex breaking down deductible expenses.

That is why this checklist already asks for those items. None of them can be improvised on filing day, and three of them (the cadastral reference, the days and the invoices) cannot be reconstructed afterwards if nobody kept them.

Why there is no figure on this page

Because the amount of the modelo 210 depends on the cadastral value, on whether and when that value was revised, on the share of ownership, on the days held and on whether the property is let. A simulator that ignores any one of those returns a number that is credible and wrong.

A wrong number is not a legal problem (this page is not advice and says so), it is a trust problem: the day your real return does not match what a web page told you, you never go back to that web page.

What this service is NOT

This is a checklist, not a ruling and not a calculation. It sorts what you tick, using the general rules of non-resident income tax. It does not replace a gestoría or a tax adviser, it does not know your case and it has not seen your papers. We are not lawyers and this is not legal or tax advice.

Questions about this service

Do I have to file even if the house is empty all year?

Yes. The obligation does not depend on letting: it depends on owning property in Spain without being tax resident here.

There are two of us on the deed. Is one return enough?

No. Where a property has several owners, each one files their own return for their own share.

Do you keep what I tick?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server and nothing is left behind when you close the page.

Does the modelo 210 change in 2027?

The form does. Every self-assessment filed from 1 January 2027 uses the new form set by Order HAC/623/2026, with boxes for the number of days and the share quota, a cadastral reference key, and an annex breaking down expenses for let property.
