The questions, one by one

Can I let my house in Spain without a registration number?

No. And the number must appear in the listing, not merely exist.

It is the question that arrives in June, once the listing is already up. It is worth asking in March.

Holding it is not enough: it has to be visible

The registration number must appear in all advertising and all offers. A listing without a visible number does not comply, even if the registration exists and is up to date.

The fine range for holiday letting without a valid registration number runs from 601 to 30,000 euros.

And it does not excuse you from filing

Holding the number settles the tourism side, not the tax side. Rent received is declared regardless, and if you do not live in Spain it is declared on the modelo 210. Two different administrations, and complying with one does not excuse the other.
