Paperwork for foreign owners in Torrevieja

Your town hall is ten minutes away. You are two thousand kilometres away.

Torrevieja is a municipality in its own right: its own town hall, its own padrón, everything handled in the same town. The problem here is not where the counter is, but that it opens on weekday mornings, and you are back home.

We are in Rojales. Here we drive over, the same day if needed.

What catches people out here

Administratively, nothing. And that is precisely what needs saying: Torrevieja has no quirk waiting for you. It belongs to the Valencian Community like Rojales or Guardamar, its holiday-let register is the same one, and its town hall is where the sign says.

What does change is the scale. It has more foreign owners than anywhere else in the Vega Baja, and a good share of its housing is flats in blocks with a residents' association: official post lands in a communal letterbox nobody opens between October and April. Of all the services, post handling is by far the one we are asked for most here.

Questions about this service

Do I need to be on the padrón in Torrevieja for any of this?

No. None of our services requires it. The padrón is a separate matter with consequences of its own — tax among them — that are worth understanding before you register.

My house is in Torrevieja but I live in the UK. Can it all be done remotely?

Yes, apart from whatever needs your physical presence or your signature in front of an official. We tell you in writing, before anything starts, which part needs you here and which does not.
